AN impressive new statue stands proudly on the roof of JW Cannon’s William Street offices in memory of the heroes of the First World War.
Director Clive Bowden’s grandfather – Henry Frank Bowden – was one of millions of young British soldiers who fought bravely on the battlefields during 1914-1918.
Clive has had the six-foot tall aluminium ‘Tommy’ erected to respect his grandfather’s achievements and in memory of all those that lost their lives during the war.
“It’s 100 years this year since the end of the first world war and I feel passionately that it should be remembered in the right way,” said Clive.
“Tommy has been installed on the roof of our offices and he now stands proudly guarding William Street and all the surroundings.”
