JW Cannon teed up a £3,500 boost for The Children’s Trust Brain Injury Hub by hosting a charity golf day at Banstead Woods Golf Club course.
Former Crystal Palace and England footballer John Salako was among those who took part in the event contested by 18 teams of four golfers.
Players started off with a breakfast at the club followed by a shotgun start round of golf, to support the Carshalton-based, family building firm’s charity venture.
It was kindly sponsored by Crystaline Communications Ltd, Bryden Johnson, Spring Electrical, NISA, Banstead Downs, Emanuel School, Howdens, Welfare 4 Hire Ltd, Travis Perkins, Parkside Vets, Capital Windows, G&P Cleaning Services Ltd and SCG Flooring.
The Clear Group were the winning team while Lee Bacon won “Nearest the Pin” and “Longest Drive” went to Oliver Jackson.
Clive Bowden, director of JW Cannon, said: “There was a real buzz on the day and then into the evening as we enjoyed a celebration dinner where winners were handed their prizes, followed by a raffle.
“We would like to thank our sponsors, and our players, who donated so generously to a charity that does such impressive work to change the lives of children with brain injury, as well as supporting their families.
“I have long admired the good work which The Children’s Trust does, right on my doorstep. I thought it would be a great opportunity to show how much the invaluable work it carries out is appreciated.”
All funds will go the Trust, based in Tadworth Court, Surrey, which supports children and young people with brain injury.
John, an ambassador for the Children’s Trust, not only joined in the afternoon’s proceedings as a guest golfer on the Banstead Downs Golf Club course but sang our praises during the evening, when an auction and raffle helped to boost the overall total.
“I am delighted that the company have given such generous support to The Children’s Trust, which is a marvellous organisation. I am always happy to support it”.
Both Clive and John are planning to take part in the Children’s Trust’s annual golf day, which takes place at Tyrells Wood Golf Club in Leatherhead on Friday, September 22.
